Women's Basketball Plays At Creighton Thursday

CARBONDALE, Ill.-Southern Illinois (3-22, 1-15) takes to the road for its final two games of the season this week. The Salukis first stop off at Creighton (17-8, 11-5) on Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
SIU, who looks to snap a six-game losing streak, is coming off back-to-back home losses to Indiana State (94-51) and Illinois State (66-59) last week.
Standing in last place among league foes, the Salukis are led by senior Danette Jones' 14 points per game. A native of Salem, Ill., Jones leads the MVC 64 three-pointers. She also ranks among national leaders in three-pointers made per game.
Meanwhile, CU is in fourth-place in the league standings behind Southwest Missouri State, Northern Iowa and Indiana State.
The Bluejays sport three players averaging double-digits in the scoring column, including Angie Janis (19.1), Laura Spanheimer (15.3) and Kristi Woodard (14.0). Spanheimer is the two-time reigning MVC Defensive Player-of-the-Year.
As a team, CU is scoring 73.4 points per game, while the Salukis are pitching in only 54.2.
CU, who holds a 21-10 all-time series lead against SIU, last beat the Salukis, 85-63, on Dec. 31 in Carbondale. In addition, the Jays have won eight of their last nine meetings against the Dawgs.
