Women's Golf Hosts 11th Annual Saluki Invitational

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University women's golf team will host its 11th Annual Saluki Invitational on Sunday and Monday, Mar. 27-28, at Hickory Ridge Golf Course.
SIU looks to win its third Saluki Invitational title in tournament history after last winning in 2002. So far this spring, the Salukis have posted two top five finishes in three tournaments including a third place finish at the Rollins College Peggy Kirk Bell Invite.
Individually, sophomore Kelly Gerlach leads the Dawgs this season with a 76.55 stroke average over 11 rounds. Sophomore Josie Lowder holds a 78.82 average over a team-high 17 rounds, while freshman Christine Zoerlein, through 14 rounds, has posted a 79.93 average.
This year's Saluki Invitational will feature six Missouri Valley Conference teams including Creighton, Illinois State, Northern Iowa, SMS and Wichita State.
Other teams competing in this year's Saluki Invitational are Austin Peay, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Ferris State, Western Illinois, Western Michigan, Rend Lake and 2003 champion Murray State.
Hickory Ridge Public Golf Course is owned by the Carbondale Park District and serves as the home of Saluki women's golf. The course plays 6,011 yards with a par of 72.
