Men's Tennis Falls to Wichita State 4-2

WICHITA, KAN. - The Southern Illinois University men's tennis team was defeated by Wichita State, 4-2, at the Crestview Country Club on Sunday. The two MVC squads played only their singles matches due to the weather conditions.
The Salukis fell behind early as a young Wichita squad mounted a 3-0 lead on the Dawgs. SIU's only wins on the day came from sophomore Rodrigo Lama, as he was able to notch a victory at the No. 2 spot over Carlo Contente, and junior Bojan Ilievski was able to pull out a win over Thiago Santos (7-5, 2-6, 6-4) at the No. 5 singles spot.
The Salukis fall to 0-3 in Missouri Valley Conference play and dropped to 6-8 overall on the season.
SIU will be back in action when it hosts the Drake Bulldogs on April 16, and the Creighton Bluejays on April 17, at the SIU Arena Tennis Courts.
