Venisha Williams Named MVC Female Field Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Thrower Venisha Williams was named the Missouri Valley Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon, as announced by the league office.
A senior from from Ferguson, Mo., Williams won the hammer throw with a career-best toss of 179-00. The mark broke the Vanderbilt Stadium record and ranks Williams third all-time at SIU and second in the MVC this season. She also finished second in the discus throw with a toss of 144-08.
This is the first time this season Williams has received the honor from the Valley. She is the second Saluki from the women's team to be honored this outdoor season.
