Toussaint, Milleville Post Regional Qualifying Marks at Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - Sprinter Kelsey Toussaint and thrower Mark Milleville posted new regional qualifying marks Friday at the 96th Annual Drake Relays. Toussaint advanced to finals in the 100 meter dash with the third-best time in Southern Illinois University history (11.69), while Milleville qualified in his third event this season, placing eighth in the discus with a career-best toss of 170-11.
Toussaint qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional Meet for the second-consecutive season. Milleville, already qualified in the hammer throw and shot put, will be making his first appearance at the regional meet.
Other top performances on the day included a win for Mannie Daux in his heat of the 110 meter hurdle prelims in a time of 14.30 to advance to the finals on Saturday. Anthony Acklin finished third in his heat in a time of 14.16 to qualify as well. The duo joined Antoine Jennings and Felix Anderson to post season-best times in the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays. The 4x100 finished 13th (41.83) and the 4x400 finished 18th (3:17.24).
The men and women's 4x1600 meter relay teams finished sixth and eighth respectively. The women's squad of Sarah Rinker, Brittani Christensen, Cherylynn Schilling and Lindsay Wagner posted a time of 20:12.64 Thursday night, while the men's team of Rob Duncan, Kyle Monroe, Tony LaChiana and Joe Byrne finished in 17:19.96 Friday afternoon.
A toss of 174-04 in the discus earned Amarachi Ukabam a fourth-place finish. The junior is regionally qualified in the disc, hammer and shot already this season.
After Toussaint qualified in the 100, she teamed up with April Heath, Marquita Vines and Sherlenia Green for the final race of the day to post a season-best time in the 4x400 meter relay (3:47.93).
Toussaint, Acklin and Daux will take part in the finals Saturday, along with the men's and women's sprint medley teams. Milleville and Ukabam are due to compete in the hammer throw along with Venisha Williams. Jumpers Kenen Shadd and Freddy Rule will also compete on the final day of the relays.
