CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois (17-11) steps out of league action to host Murray State (15-13) Wednesday. First pitch is set for 3 p.m., at Abe Martin Field.
SIU, who is 10-3 at home this season, goes for its fifth straight win at Abe's Place.
One of the most productive Salukis as of late has been junior utility player Nathan Emrick. A native of Griggsville, Ill., Emrick is currently on a seven-game hitting streak, and has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games. He also upped his average from .226 to .317 over that span.
Meanwhile, MSU is led by Alex Stewart and Seth Hudson, who are each hitting .326 on the year. Stewart also tops the `Breds with eight doubles, while Hudson ties for second with 30 hits.
Tomorrow's meeting marks the second between SIU and MSU, as the Salukis try to avenge a 7-5 loss to the Thoroughbreds on Mar. 2. The Dawgs hold a 33-9 series lead against the `Breds.
SIU is 2-3 in midweek games this season, as all but two of those matchups have been against Ohio Valley Conference opponents.
