The Saluki athletics compliance office issued its first, monthly newsletter Tuesday. The May issue is available for download at www.SIUSalukis.com by clicking on the Inside Saluki Athletics link on the left side of any page on the athletics official site.
The Compliance Conscious Newsletter will contain a variety of timely information on relevant NCAA topics and issues. The newsletter will present coaches, student-athletes, boosters and administrators with an additional educational piece to enhance the institution's commitment to NCAA compliance and winning with integrity.
"Southern Illinois University Carbondale is committed to the principles of fair play by all of our staff, student-athletes, graduates, fans and boosters," assistant athletics director Christian Spears said. "This newsletter is another way to educate those involved with our intercollegiate athletic programs."
Spears said a monthly newsletter has proven an effective tool at some larger Division I institutions, and he expects it will accomplish the same for Saluki athletics.
