Cross Country teams begin season Saturday

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University Cross Country teams travel to Evansville, Ind., Saturday for the Evansville Early Bird.
The meet is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start on the UE Cross Country Course with the women starting first. The women will run a 4K while the men will run a 6K.
Along with the Purple Aces, Missouri Valley Conference rival Indiana State is entered in the four-team field. Southern Indiana, who won the men's and women's titles at this event last year, is returning to defend its titles.
Participating in the Early Bird serves a dual role for the Salukis as UE will be the host of the 2005 State Farm MVC Cross Country Championships.
The Dawgs will take a week off following the Early Bird and return to action Sept. 17 at the Eastern Illinois Panther Open.
