CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University softball coach Kerri Blaylock announced Thursday that junior outfielder Alex Pepin has left the team for personal reasons and to pursue other interests.
Pepin, a Kirkwood, Mo. native, has played in 18 games this season, starting one. She was batting .333 (3-for-9), scoring three runs. She was mostly utilized in pinch-running situations.
"We're sorry that things did not work out for Alex," said Blaylock. "She has always worked very hard for the team and I appreciate her contributions and wish her the best in her future endeavors."
The #23 Salukis return to action this weekend, April 8-9, with a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series against Missouri State in Springfield, Mo. Play is set to begin Saturday at 12 p.m. with a doubleheader at the Missouri State Softball Field.
