CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University junior quarterback Nick Hill was named this week's Gateway Conference Offensive Player-of-the-Week, the league announced Sunday.
Hill, who hails from nearby DuQuoin, Ill., threw touchdown passes to four different receivers in SIU's stunning 35-28 come-from-behind win at Big Ten Conference foe Indiana on Sept. 16.
Hill helped the Salukis overcome a 14-0 first quarter deficit by completing 10-of-18 passes for 142 yards. He also rushed for 27 yards.
In his second career start, Hill also had a huge 33-yard completion on a 3rd-and-11 to set up the game's decisive touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
In addition, he became the first Saluki quarterback to throw four touchdown passes in a game since Joel Sambursky did it against Indiana State in 2004.
Hill garners the team's second Gateway Conference weekly award this season.
