Men's Tennis begins season at Middle Tennessee Fall Invitational

The Southern Illinois men's tennis team kicked off the fall season on the road at the Middle Tennessee Fall Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The Salukis opened play on Friday with a 1-3 record in singles competition. Freshman Karl Nilsson fell to David Ray of Birmingham Southern, 3-6, 6-3, 10-1. Junior Rodrigo Lama dropped his match to MTSU's Morgan Richard, 6-4, 6-1. Lucas Waked picked up a first-round victory over Armstrong Atlantic State University's Taavo Roos, 7-6(5), 6-4, before falling to Birmingham Southern's Mauricio Engler 6-1, 7-6 (3) in the second round.
On Saturday Waked and Lama paired up for doubles competition. The duo lost to Morehead State's Jacob McLeod and Damian Storti, 9-7.
The Salukis will be back in action on October 2 when they travel to Tulsa, Okla. to compete in the ITA All-American Tournament.
