Cross Country collects multiple conference honors

ST. LOUIS - Cross country head coach Matt Sparks was named MVC Coach of the Year, while sophomore Jeff Schirmer earned Athlete of the Year honors, the league announced today.
The honors come following the Saluki men's victory at the 2007 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship last weekend.
The Salukis swept the top three spots in the men's 8K as Schirmer, Mohamed Mohamed and Kevin Doran finished first, second and third, respectively.
The three Saluki men were named to both the All-Conference team as well as the MVC Scholar-Athlete team. Also landing a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete team was Jason Ordway, who finished 13th at the conference meet.
On the women's side, sophomore A'Seret Dokubo garnered Conference and Scholar-Athlete honors with her ninth-place finish in the 5K.
