Football places eight on Gateway Academic All-Conference Team

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Rick Burgess, Nick Hill, Ryan Kernes and Scott Ravanesi each earned first-team honors to highlight a group of eight Southern Illinois University football players named to the 2007 Gateway Conference Academic All-Conference Team.
Hill garners first-team honors for the second-straight year, while Burgess, Kernes and Ravanesi earn the award for the first time. Hill carries a 3.19 GPA in special education. Burgess (pre-major), Kernes (civil engineering) and Ravanesi (management) are 4.0 students.
Justin Allen, Andrew Kernes and Ryan Patton followed with second-team laurels. Allen holds a 3.21 GPA in health education, Kernes boasts a 3.25 GPA in biological sciences and Patton owns a 4.0 GPA in kinesiology.
Ryan Beeler rounded out SIU's honorees. Beeler was named honorable mention.
