Baseball picked sixth in MVC Preseason Poll

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University was picked sixth in the 2007 Missouri Valley Conference Preseason Baseball Poll, the league announced today.
Evansville (4 first-place votes, 75 pts.) was tabbed this year's favorite, while Wichita State (5 first-place votes, 69 pts.), Missouri State (64 pts.), Creighton (50 pts.) and Northern Iowa (39 pts.) were also picked ahead of SIU.
Bradley (31 pts.), Illinois State (25 pts.) and Indiana State (17 pts.) rounded out the poll.
Senior outfielder Kevin Koski was the only Saluki named to this year's preseason all-conference team.
Koski, also named to the 2007 Wallace Watch List, hit .300 with 56 runs scored, 11 doubles, two triples, one home run, 29 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 58 starts a year ago.
SIU opens its season with a three-game series at Stetson, beginning Friday at 6 p.m., CST.
