Riley named USTFCCCA Midwest Region Field Athlete-of-the-Year

CARBONDALE, Ill.-Southern Illinois University junior thrower Brittany Riley was named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Midwest Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year.

The USTFCCCA honors the men's and women's coaches and athletes of the year for nine regions.

A native of Flossmoor, Ill., Riley broke the world record in the women's 20-pound weight throw last month when she threw 80-07.50 at the Gladstein Invitational.

Riley was also named the outstanding field event performer at the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships.
