CARBONDALE, Ill. - Saturday's doubleheader between the No. 20/22 Southern Illinois University softball team and Drake University has been cancelled because of cold weather.
As per Missouri Valley Conference policy, if the air temperature is not 35 degrees at game time, both coaches have to agree to play or the game results in cancellation.
After game administrators and umpires met with both head coaches, the decision was made not to play Saturday's games.
The cancellation comes after SIU trampled the Bulldogs on Saturday with a 13-0, five-inning win.
Saturday's games will not be re-scheduled.
The Salukis (29-8, 10-2 MVC) will return to action on Tuesday, April 10 with a single game against MVC rival Evansville. The Purple Aces (21-13, 5-8 MVC) also were forced in to canceling their single game with Creighton on Saturday.
