Riley earns 10th Missouri Valley Conference weekly honor

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois University track and field thrower Brittany Riley was named Missouri Valley Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week the league announced Tuesday evening.
Riley, who hails from Flossmoor, Ill., threw a career-best 237-11 in the women's hammer throw at the Drake Relays to set a new relays, stadium, SIU and conference record. The mark won the event by nearly 18 feet over the current collegiate record-holder Jenny Dahlgren from Georgia and broke the Drake Relays record by 31 feet. In addition, Riley finished ninth in the discus (158-00). Riley's hammer mark ranks second in the nation and first in The Valley this season. In seven outdoor meets this season, the junior is undefeated winning all seven hammer titles.
This marks the eighth time this season and the 10th time Riley has garnered weekly honors in her Saluki career.
