CARBONDALE, Ill. - Former Southern Illinois University wide receiver Brent Little signed a two-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.
A native of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Little (5-11, 193) worked out with the Chiefs on June 7 and agreed to terms with the club Wednesday.
"To be able to play for my hometown and get an opportunity like this doesn't get any better," said Little. "I grew up watching the Chiefs."
Little is one of seven wide receivers with no more than a year of experience on Kansas City's active roster.
"It's a young group of receivers and the opportunities are wide open," said Little. "My fate is in my hands."
Little entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Cleveland in 2006. He attended training camp with the Browns a year ago, but was released prior to the start of the regular season.
As a three-year starter at SIU, Little appeared in 49 games (32 starts). He caught 124 passes for 2,303 yards (18.6 avg.) and 20 TDs, and led the team in receptions from 2003-05. Little also returned 26 kickoffs for 560 yards (21.5 avg.).
