Saluki athletic merchandise remains a hot item. When the fiscal year ends next week, The Collegiate Licensing Company said it expects Southern Illinois University is going to break the $200,000 mark for the first time.
The licensing program at SIU has increased revenues by 20 percent over last year and 117 percent during the last five years, according to Derek Eiler, managing director of CLC.
"We are extremely excited about this new royalty revenue milestone for Southern Illinois," said Eiler. "There are many factors that contributed to the record royalty year, including the loyal base of University alumni and fans, the success of Saluki Athletics, and the dedicated support from local retailers in stocking up on University merchandise."
CLC has partnered with Saluki Athletics for more than two decades in the management of the University's merchandise licensing program.
