Riley and Siemons named MVC Field Athletes-of-the-Week

ST. LOUIS - Southern Illinois seniors Brittany Riley and Brenton Siemons were named this week's Missouri Valley Female and Male Field Athletes-of-the-Week, the league announced today.
Riley automatically qualified for the second time this season in the weight throw at the Saluki SASF Invitational. Riley's throw of 78-01.75 (23.82m) won the event by over 20 feet and is the second-best throw in the nation, 2.49m ahead of the next best throw.
Riley holds the nation's top throw as well. In addition, Riley finished fifth in the shot put (48-04.50). Riley currently holds the top mark in the Valley in the weight throw (79.06-00) and the second mark in the shot put (48-04.50).
Riley received the honor for the second time this season.
Siemons won the shot put, throwing a 57-00.25 (17.38m) in the event at the Saluki SASF Invitational on Friday. The mark stands as the best in the Valley to this point in the season.
Siemons currently sits in the top-two in two events in The Valley this season (shot put and weight throw). In addition to his weight throw performance, Siemons also won the weight throw at the meet with a mark of 61-11.00 (18.87m).
The Salukis will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 26 when they travel to the Illinois Invitational in Champaign, Ill.
