Cross Country to compete in Louisville Classic

Carbondale, Ill. - The SIU men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the Louisville Classic on Saturday.
Head coach Matt Sparks said the men have a good chance of contending for the title with three time MVC Athlete of the Week Jeff Schirmer leading the pack.
"This will be the first time we've got some competition for anyone from Jeff (Schirmer) to our eighth guy on the team," Sparks said.
35 teams will compete in the Louisville Classic as both the men's and women's teams will compete in the Gold race at 9:30 and 10:15 respectively.
The women will be led by Megan Hoelscher, Emily Tonnies, and A'Seret Dokubo.
"If the women can place third or fourth that would be a good day for them," Sparks said.
