CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Salukis are back at home this weekend as they host Missouri State on Friday and No. 14 Wichita State on Saturday.
The Bears of Missouri State are 31-14 over the Salukis, while the Wichita State Shockers lead the series against SIU 24-18. The Salukis last defeated Missouri State in 2004, while 2002 marks the last time SIU defeated Wichita State.
"The biggest key this weekend is to get our offensive game going," said head coach Brenda Winkeler. "We need to work on making less hitting errors."
The Salukis defeated Bradley last weekend recording a season-high 11 aces and 20 block assists. SIU is ranked No. 10 in the nation in digs per set, averaging 17.15 on the season.
Missouri State is 11-6 overall, 3-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bears are ranked third in the MVC right behind Wichita State who remains undefeated on the season. The Shockers are currently ranked No. 14 in the country with a 5-0 conference record, 16-0 overall.
"We need a lot of people to contribute offensively in order to beat these two teams," Winkeler said.
SIU will host Missouri State on Friday, Oct. 10 and Wichita State on Saturday, Oct. 11. Match times are set for 7 p.m. at Davies Gym. Fans who attend the SIU football game Saturday will receive $1 admission to the matchup against the Shockers by presenting their football ticket stub at the door.
