Men finish sixth, women 15th at NCAA Regionals

Stillwater, Okla. - The SIU men's cross country team finished in sixth place and the women came in 15th at the NCAA Regional meet in Stillwater, Okla.
Jeff Schirmer again led the way for the Salukis finishing the 10K course in 31:22.60 which put him in 9th place overall which gives him an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on Nov. 24th.
Dan Dunbar came in second for the Salukis with at time of 31:59.90 to finish 24th overall while Jason Ordway rounded out the top three finishers for SIU with a time of 32:27.95 to finish in 47th place.
"The men as a team came up a little short and we would have liked be a little more challenging but Jeff did very well and it's exciting to see him to go the Championship meet," Head coach Matt Sparks said.
Other finishers for the Salukis included Kyle Kirchner (51st, 32:35.45), Mark Bowman (56th, 32:45.10), Logan Block (79th, 33:18.10) and Brad Wrage (134th, 34:59.70)
On the women's side, the Salukis finished in 15th place with Emily Toennies completing the 6K course with a time of 22:27:95 to finish in 54th place
Megan Hoelscher finished next for SIU in 59th place with a time of 22:35.35 while Ryan Eichelberger finished shortly behind in 79th place (22:50.15).
Rounding out the Salukis lineup were A'Seret Dokubo (83rd, 22:52.55), Jamie Pfister (107th 23:16.10), Kim Bearwood (139th, 23:44.15), and Toni Whitfield (151st, 24:10.60)
