CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University running back Larry Warner was named this week's Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Sunday.
A native of Vicksburg, Miss., Warner piled up a career-high 256 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns against North Dakota. He averaged 12.2 yards per carry on 21 attempts.
Warner ran for over 100 yards for the third-straight game and became SIU's first 200-yard rusher since Arkee Whitlock had 207 yards against Tennessee-Martin in 2006. Warner's 256 rushing yards are second-most among the Missouri Valley's single-game leaders this season. He also moved to sixth all-time in single-game rushing yardage at SIU.
SIU has won four-straight games and returns to action when it hosts Western Illinois Saturday.
