Berwanger, Robbins earn spot on MVC All-Conference Team

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Southern Illinois volleyball team earned two spots on the 2008 All-Missouri Valley Conference Volleyball Team. Jennifer Berwanger earned a spot on the all-conference first team, while Brooklyn Robbins landed a spot on all-conference second team.
Berwanger, a sophomore outside hitter, led the team in kills this season averaging 3.64 kills per set and digs with 4.06 per set. Berwanger started in all 29 matches for the Salukis, posting a .233 hitting percentage. Recording 1,103 attempts this season put Berwanger at the No. 5 spot in school history for attempts in a season. Berwanger was also received MVC scholar-athlete honors this season.
Robbins spent two years at SIU after transferring to Southern in 2007. She led the team this season with 1,092 assists, averaging 10.50 per set, while ranking third on the team in digs averaging 3.06 per set. Robbins posted 2,247 total assists in her career at SIU, putting her at No. 7 in all-time career assists at Southern.
In addition to Southern two spots on the team, regular-season Valley champion Wichita State claimed four spots on the first team. League runner-up Creighton tallied three spots on the all-conference first team, while UNI, Missouri State and Illinois State each earned two spots.
