CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University sophomore cornerback Korey Lindsey was named this week's Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
A native of Baton Rouge, La., Lindsey intercepted two passes and scored a touchdown in the last two minutes of the game to secure the Salukis' victory over No. 17 Western Illinois Saturday.
Lindsey returned an interception for a touchdown for the first time in his career when he ran 48 yards to give the Salukis a 24-14 lead with 1:36 left to play. Lindsey picked off Matt Barr for the second time on the Leathernecks' final possession. He also had two tackles and two pass breakups. Lindsey leads SIU with four interceptions this year.
