Mattsson named Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois' Therese Mattsson was named the Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week after posting the top Valley time in the 50-, 100- and 200-freestyle races at the Mizzou Invitational.
Mattsson entered the record books three times this weekend, re-writing all of her personal bests. Mattsson posted a time of 23.39 in the 50 free, ranking third all-time in school history. A second-place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.85 put Mattsson second in school history. The school record of 1:48.31 was set by Antonial Mahaira during 1989-90 season, since then no Saluki has recorded a time under 1:50.00. Mattsson entered the books at No. 2 in school history posting 50.59 for a third-place finish in the 100 freestyle.
