Swimming and Diving finishes fourth at Missouri Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Southern Illinois swimming and diving finished fourth as a team at the Missouri Invitational. Individually, the women grabbed a fourth place finish while the men finished sixth after three days of competition.
Other participating teams included No. 22 Arkansas (women), Missouri S&T, Iowa, Drury, Missouri State, Kansas and Missouri (No. 20 women, No. 21 men).
In the final day of competition, the Salukis finished in the top-ten in seven events competed in. Kelly Dvorak led the women in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.69 for a seventh place finish. Therese Mattsson finished third in the 100 freestyle with 50.59. Anthony Bousquet placed seventh in the men's 100 freestyle 46.14. Freshman Kristin Geppert grabbed a 10th place finish in the 200 breaststroke with 2:24.66, while Jameson Kuper finished third on the men's side with a time of 2:01.59. Keli Kramer finished second in the 1650 freestyle with 11:00.05, while Matt Parsons finished 10th on the men's side with 16:25.94.
"I was very pleased with everybody's effort this weekend," said head coach Rick Walker. "We had some very nice surprises with a lot of bright spots."
Both the men and women will travel to Puerto Rico this month for the Puerto Rico training trip.
