Stuart and Siemons named MVC Field Athletes-of-the-Week

ST. LOUIS - Southern Illinois junior Bianca Stuart and senior Brenton Siemons were named this week's Missouri Valley Female and Male Field Athletes-of-the-Week, the league announced today.
Stuart automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championship in long jump at this weekend's McDonald's Invitational. Stuart's jump of 21-00.00 (6.40m) won the event by nearly two feet.
Stuart's jump is the third-best on the NCAA descending order list and holds the top spot on the MVC indoor best list to this point in the season.
Siemons provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championship in shot put at the on Saturday with a throw of 58-03.00 (17.75m). The mark is a new career best for Siemons in the event and stands as the best in the Valley to this point in the season.
In addition to his shot put performance, Siemons won the weight throw event at the meet with a mark of 63-03.25 (19.28m). The mark is Siemons' new career best and also sits at No. 1 in the Valley in the event this season.
This is the second time Siemons has earned the honor this season.
The Salukis will be back in action this weekend at the Iowa Classic in Ames, Iowa.
