ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois junior Bianca Stuart was named this week's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Stuart, a Nassau, Bahamas native, regionally qualified for the second time in as many weeks in the long jump Saturday at the Vanderbilt Invitational. Her mark of 20-08 won the event and ranks her first in the MVC this season. The mark set a new meet record and a new SIU record, as she broke her own record by one inch, and ranks top-15 in the nation. Also, her mark in the 100 dash ranks sixth in The Valley.
The Salukis will be back in action this weekend as select athletes will take part in the 99th Annual Drake Relays and the rest will compete in the SIU-Edwardsville Twilight Open.
