Riley named MVC Field Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois senior Brittany Riley was named this week's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.

Riley, a Flossmoor, Ill. native, defended her hammer throw title at the 99th Annual Drake Relays. The senior threw 217-05 to win the event by over three feet and defend her title from a year ago. Her season-best mark ranks first in the league this season and fourth in the nation.

This is the fourth-straight week the Salukis have garnered a weekly honor, picking up seven honors in five weeks during the indoor season.

The Salukis will be back in action this weekend at the Jesse Owens Track and Field Classic hosted by Ohio State.
