CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University Department of Athletics is sending the Saluki spirit squads to Northwestern this weekend. The Marching Salukis, cheerleaders and shakers will perform three times in two days.
The spirit squads start their trip with a visit to Argo Community High School Friday afternoon. Later that night, they will perform at the Glenview High School football game. Then, the Marching Salukis take the field for a performance at halftime of the Northwestern game Saturday.
Marching Salukis director Andrew Tucker says he's happy to get the exposure for his spirited band.
"I wanted to thank Saluki Athletics for this opportunity," said Tucker. "Thanks to our positive surroundings and constant support from our musical faculty, we are able to pour our energy into cheering on our beloved athletics."
