EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Salukis dropped their match against Evansville, 3-2, Friday night in Evansville.
SIU (9-3, 1-2 MVC) took the Purple Aces (8-8, 2-1) into five sets, before falling in the final set 20-18.
"We lost momentum and weren't able to pull out the match," said head coach Brenda Winkeler. "We were in control the whole time, but just couldn't seize the win."
Senior Chandra Roberson posted 25 kills against the Purple Aces, a record-high for the middle hitter. Brooklyn Robbins recorded her 18th career double-double with 59 assists and 13 digs. Sophomore Jennifer Berwanger contributed 18 kills and 22 digs for her 13th double-double. The Salukis hit .203, posting a season-high 16.0 blocks against Evansville.
"Chandra and Jen stepped up big for us," Winkeler said. "Jen played very well defensively."
The Salukis will be back in action Tuesday, Sept. 30, as they travel to Murray State. Match time is set for 7 p.m. in Murray, Ky.
