Volleyball drops match to No. 18 Purdue, 3-0

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Southern Illinois volleyball team dropped their match against No. 18 Purdue, 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-11).
The Salukis (4-1) hit .500 in the second set, making it a close set against the Boilmakers (5-0).
"We gave them a run in the second set," said head coach Brenda Winkeler. "but their All-American, Stephanie Lynch, came in a took control."
Jennifer Berwanger contributed two kills, one ace, and five digs to the Saluki offense. Senior Erika Bartruff recorded four assists against Purdue, while hitting .500 from the serving line.
"Jen and Sydney [Clark] did a good job on the outside," Winkeler said. "Jasmine Connor also did a good job of coming in and blocking."
The Salukis will continue action at the Ball State Tournament this afternoon as they take on Tennessee Tech. Match time is set for 5 p.m. ET.
"Purdue was big and ranked No. 18 in the country," Winkeler said. "We'll come back and rebound against Tennessee Tech tonight."
