WICHITA, Kan. - The Southern Illinois (13-4, 3-4) volleyball team fell to Wichita State (14-3, 5-2) in three straight sets, 25-20, 25-20, 25-16.
Jennifer Berwanger led the Salukis with 14 kills while Lauren Blumhorst posted a team-high 12 digs. Marina Medic recorded a match-high .333 hitting percentage.
Service errors continued to plague SIU as it recorded 10 against the Shockers, 19 overall on the weekend.
"We played pretty well offensively and defensively, what really hurt us tonight was passing ," said head coach Brenda Winkeler. "We just didn't have consistent passing and allowed more service errors than we should have."
SIU's third set hitting percentage of .000 combined with an uncharacteristic 6.0 blocking average played to the Shockers advantage. Tonight marked only the second sweep over the Salukis on the season, Missouri State swept the Salukis 3-0 on Friday night.
The Salukis will be back in action Oct. 16-17 as they host Drake Friday at 6 p.m. and Creighton Saturday at 7 p.m.
