CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois softball team ranked No. 18 among the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-Academic teams for the 2009 season.
SIU posted a 3.382 cumulative GPA to rank in the top 20 for the ninth straight year. The Salukis have placed in the top 10 in seven of the last nine years, and earned a top five finish in five of the last nine seasons.
"We're very proud of the kids and their ability to manage both academics and athletics at such a high level," said head coach Kerri Blaylock. "It says a lot about the team that they can sustain a top-20 ranking over a nine-year period."
