Johnson named to State Farm MVC All-Tournament Team

OMAHA, Neb. - Southern Illinois right side Alicia Johnson was named to the 2009 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament Team following the completion of the three-day tournament hosted by Creighton.
The junior led the Salukis with 14 kills, 15 digs, five block assists and two service aces in a four-set match with Wichita State Thursday night in the opening round of the tournament at D.J. Sokol Arena.
Earlier in the week, Johnson was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team and was the Most Valuable Player of the Saluki Invitational in September. This season, her first as a Saluki, she averaged 2.54 kills, 2.82 digs and 0.53 blocks per set. She ranked third in the tournament statistics in kills per set (3.50) and second in points per set (4.62).
