Saluki student-athletes participate in MVC's "Just Read" program

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Student-athletes from cross country, football, swimming and diving, and track gathered this morning at SIUC Head Start as a part of the State Farm/Missouri Valley Conference "Just Read" program.
Saluki student-athletes spent the morning reading books and playing games with children in the Head Start program. Once a month throughout the school year student-athletes gather with the Saluki academic staff to participate in the "Just Read" program.
The "Just Read" program is a community outreach effort between the Missouri Valley Conference, its member schools and student-athletes, and the State Farm Insurance Company and its agents. The primary goal of the program is to promote the importance of reading at an early age to stimulate educational growth, while utilizing MVC student-athletes as positive role models.
