Carbondale, Ill.- The Southern Illinios men's tennis team remained perfect at home as they defeated Northern Illinois Saturday afternoon at SportsBlast.
The Salukis are now 7-0 in home matches this season at improved their overall record to 8-4.
After collecting the doubles point, the Salukis earned victories at No. 2, No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6 singles to get past the Huskies.
Head coach Dann Nelson said winning the doubles point was key for the Salukis and the team pulled out a tough win.
"There was a point where our bottom half of singles wasn't playing so well but they dug down deep and they got it done and it was good for us," Nelson said. "Northern Illinois beat us 7-0 last year so it was good to get this win today and were looking forward to our match tomorrow."
The Salukis will wrap up their home stand tomorrow as they host Illinois-Chicago at SportsBlast beginning at 10 a.m.
