Men's golf opens spring season at Samford Intercollegiate

CARBONDALE, Ill. - After having last week's tournament cancelled due to snow, the Saluki men's golf team will open the spring season at the Samford Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday, March 9-10.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played at the 6,000-yard par-72 Limestone Springs Golf Course in Oneonta, Ala.
Joining Southern and host team Samford will be Belmont, Birmingham-Southern, Clayton State, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Illinois State, Kennesaw State, Murray State, Nicholls and UT Martin.
SIU also opened last year's spring season at the Samford Intercollegiate and placed tied for 16th.
In contrast to last year though, the men's team has been able to practice outside much more frequently in preparation for their first tournament.
Play will being each day with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT.
