ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois women's basketball player Alex Hart was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week the league announced Monday.
Hart, a freshman from Thornhill, Ontario, had a career game in a victory over Evansville Saturday. The 5-9 guard posted a career-high 21 points, five rebounds and an assist, shooting 5-of-8 (62 percent) from the field and 4-of-5 (80 percent) from the 3-point line. She helped lead the Salukis past the Aces and claim the No. 8 seed in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament this weekend.
