Wichita, Kan.-The Southern Illinois men's tennis team gave the Wichita State Shockers their first home loss of the season with a 4-3 victory Saturday afternoon.
The Salukis and Shockers battled back and forth but the deciding factor would be the doubles point, as the Salukis claimed that point winning two of the three matches.
The tightly played match came down to the final set with the score tied 3-3 with Eric West pulling off a victory at No. 3 singles defeating Jonathan Obrist,
"It was a tough match for both teams and we were lucky to escape with a win today," Head coach Dann Nelson said.
The Salukis will return to Carbondale to host their final home match of the season as they face Eastern Illinois on Tuesday. Match time is set for 1 p.m. at the University Courts.
