Volleyball goes 3-0 in annual Saluki Spring Tournament

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois volleyball team went 3-0 sweeping its pool at the annual Saluki Spring Tournament at Davies Gym Saturday.
The Salukis swept all three of their opponents, taking Arkansas State in the first match of the day, 25-20, 25-19.
Lauren Blumhorst led the team in digs against ASU with 11, followed by Kelsie Laughlin, Sydney Clark and Jennifer Berwanger with seven each.
Chandra Roberson hit .250 to lead the offense, while Berwanger and Clark each posted seven kills.
SIU swept John A. Logan College in the second match, 25-16, 25-13, Roberson again leading the offense, hitting .400 with five kills.
Roberson and Amanda Arnold each had four block assists, while Berwanger and Blumhorst picked up 14 and nine digs respectively.
Southern swept Memphis in its final match of the tournament, 25-18, 25-21, Roberson leading the way with nine kills, hitting .750, with four block assists.
Laughlin led the team with 14 digs, Blumhorst with 10.
Roberson hit .471 on the day, Marina Medic .385 and Clark .229.
Blumhorst posted 30 digs on the day, Berwanger with 27 and Laughlin with 24.
The Salukis wrap up spring play 11-2 in three tournaments.
