Midweek Games
Southern Illinois University enters Tuesday's game with a 5-4 record in midweek games this year. SEMO marks the fourth opponent from the Ohio Valley Conference that the Salukis face this season. SIU is currently 2-2 versus OVC schools after splitting two games with Tennessee-Martin, losing to Eastern Illinois and winning at Murray State. Preseason OVC favorite Jacksonville State (Apr. 10-11) will also visit Carbondale this week.
Salukis Look to Get Back on Track
The Salukis have dropped five of their last six games. All of those losses came in Missouri Valley Conference play, where SIU is on a five-game losing streak for the first time in eight years. The last time the Salukis lost five or more consecutive league games was in 2001 (8-game losing streak).
Home Sweet Home
SIU is in the middle of a seven-game homestand. The Salukis, who are 8-8 at Abe Martin Field this year, have six home games left following this weekend's series against Jacksonville State.
SIU vs. SEMO
Tuesday marks the 68th meeting between SIU and SEMO. The Salukis own a 43-23-1 lead against the Redhawks in a series which started in 1923. SIU is 10-14 all-time against SEMO under head coach Dan Callahan. The home team has won six of the last eight meetings.
