Volleyball goes 4-2 at Loyola Three Wise Men Tournament

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Southern Illinois volleyball team went 4-2 at the Loyola Three Wise Men Tournament Saturday in its second tournament of the spring season.
The Salukis went 2-1 in pool play falling to Michigan State, 18-25, 14-25, and Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 21-25, 19-25, before taking down Olivet Nazarene 25-14, 25-18.
The Salukis then joined another pool where each matched had a 30-minute time limit. SIU swept the afternoon pool beating a second Wisconsin-Milwaukee team, 25-20, 12-11, Missouri Valley Conference foe Northern Iowa, 39-31 and Lewis University, 36-29.
Outside hitter Sydney Clark led the Salukis with 26 kills on the day, with a .257 clip. Marina Medic hit a team-best .350 with seven kills and just two errors, while Chandra Roberson hit .321 with 17 kills and just five errors.
Jennifer Berwanger led the Salukis with 44 digs in the tournament. Lauren Blumhorst and Amanda Arnold added 30 apiece and Kelsie Laughlin added 25.
Jasmine Conner led the Salukis with six solo and six block assists, while Roberson added three solo and nine block assists and Laughlin put up one solo and eight block assists on the day.
The Salukis wrap up spring tournament play when they host their annual tournament April 18.
