Love named MVC Field Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois' Malaikah Love was named the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week the league announced Tuesday.

Love, who hails from Carbondale, posted the first regional-qualifying mark of her career Saturday at the Joey Haines Invitational hosted by Southeast Missouri State. She jumped 41-10.00 (12.75m) in the triple jump to qualify, finishing second in the event. Love also finished second in the long jump with a leap of 19-02.50 (5.85m) and 19th in the 100-meter dash in 12.73.

Sean Wright (men's track) of Indiana State, Mat Clark (men's field) of UNI and Erica Moore (women's track) of Indiana State joined Love as the other award-winners in the MVC this week.
