CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois track and field athletes Jason Ordway and Bianca Stuart were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team for the 2008-09 season.
Ordway, the 2009 Missouri Valley Conference Champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finished 18th at the NCAA Mideast Regionals in his first trip as a junior May 30. The Holgate, Ohio, native holds a 3.92 cumulative grade point average in physiology.
Stuart, a senior from Nassau, Bahamas, won the 2009 Mideast Regional long jump title May 29 to advance to the NCAA National Championships. The two-time All-American won her seventh MVC title in the long jump last month and holds both the indoor and outdoor records in the event at SIU. The dental hygiene major carries a 3.58 cumulative GPA.
Both athletes are eligible for academic all-america consideration.
