Rachael Brown named MVC Freshman of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois volleyball player Rachael Brown has been named the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week the league announced Monday.
Brown, a freshman setter from Brownsburg, Ind., helped the SIU offense open the Missouri Valley Conference season with a victory over the weekend. She averaged 12.00 assists, 1.25 blocks, 1.00 kills and 1.00 digs per set in a four-set match over Evansville Saturday. She recorded 48 assists, four kills, four digs, one solo and four block assists.
She averaged 10.51 assists, 0.60 blocks and 1.53 digs per set this season, helping lead her team to a perfect 11-0 record, the best start in program history. The Salukis are one of eight teams in the country still unbeaten this season.
This is Brown's second consecutive weekly honor, and the third overall this season.
This week's MVC Player of the Week is Wichita State's Emily Stockman, the Co-Defensive Players of the Week are Cara Hackmann of Missouri State and Ellie Blankenship of UNI.
