Cross country ranked nationally in USTFCCCA Week 1 poll

New Orleans, La. - The Southern Illinois men's and women's cross country teams are ranked nationally according to the latest polls from the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association.
The SIU men came in at No. 6 while the women are ranked No. 15. on the Midwest regional poll.
Both squads are fresh off victories at their own Saluki Invitational over the weekend and also claimed first place finishes at the Panther Open hosted by Eastern Illinois University on Sept. 11.
In the preseason poll, the Saluki men were ranked No. 5 while the women came in at No. 15.
Other Missouri Valley Conference teams to be ranked on the men's side included No. 10 Indiana State in the Great Lakes poll, while Illinois State came in at No. 12 in the Midwest poll.
On the women's side, Bradley is No. 12, Illinois State is No. 13 and Missouri State is No. 14 in the Midwest poll.
