Men's Tennis trumps Georgetown (Ky.), 7-0

RICHMOND, Ky. - The SIU men's tennis team registered their first win of the 2010 season by trouncing Georgetown College (Ky.), 7-0, Sunday in Richmond, Ky.
Highlighting the win was junior Falk De Beenhouwer, who did not lose a single game in either singles or doubles action. De Beenhouwer defeated Georgetown's Carlos del Valle 6-0, 6-0, in #4 singles. On the doubles side, the Belgian teamed up with senior Mpilo Migogo for an 8-0 win against the Tigers' Justin Harris and Ben Scott.
In other action, three freshmen - Brandon Florez, Chikara Kidera, and Orhan Spahic - all earned their first career spring singles wins. Florez triumphed over Georgetown senior Miguel Reyes 7-6, 6-2, while Kidera topped Justin Harris in straight sets 6-3, 6-1. Spahic also won in straight sets, defeating Zach Thomas 6-2, 6-0.
"We just took care of business today," said Saluki head coach Dann Nelson. "This win was a confidence booster for the guys."
The Salukis will next be in action Saturday for their home opener, when they face the UMKC Kangaroos. The match between the Dawgs and Roos will begin at 10 a.m. at the Sports Blast Sports Complex in Carbondale.
